  • Job Description: Mold Maker/Toolmaker


    General Overview:

    We are seeking a skilled Mold Maker/Toolmaker to join our team and play a pivotal role in the fabrication and maintenance of plastic injection molds, cutting tools, jigs, fixtures, and more. As a vital member of our team, you will be responsible for analyzing specifications, laying out fabrication processes, and crafting high-quality components to exacting standards.




    - Set up and teardown equipment, ensuring smooth operation throughout the fabrication process.

    - Perform manual machining tasks on a variety of machines, including mills, lathes, surface grinders, and saws.

    - Review completed layouts and drawings for accuracy, clarity, and adherence to standards, recommending revisions as needed.

    - Operate conventional machine shop equipment and sinker EDM machines to shape workpieces according to specifications, from cutting and turning to milling and grinding.

    - Demonstrate advanced manual machining skills, such as milling contours, engraving, and turning threads, with precision and efficiency.

    - Smooth and fit surfaces and assemblies, ensuring seamless integration into mechanisms.

    - Utilize CAD/CAM software to develop data and preliminary layouts, presenting design proposals to internal and external stakeholders.

    - Apply understanding of injection molding mechanics and mold function to machining processes.

    - Inspect finished molds for surface finish, size requirements, and defect detection, ensuring compliance with quality standards.

    - Build and repair close tolerance mold components with meticulous attention to detail.

    - Utilize working knowledge of heat treatment processes for steel in mold fabrication.

    - Perform complex mold repairs and spot shutoffs as required.




    - Proficiency in manual machining techniques and operation of machine shop equipment.

    - Familiarity with CAD/CAM software is advantageous.

    - Strong attention to detail and precision in workmanship.

    - Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications accurately.

    - Understanding of injection molding mechanics and mold function is preferred.

    - Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.

    - Effective communication and teamwork abilities.

    - Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is desirable.

What does the interview process entail?

If you’ve applied online and been contacted for an interview, a Recruiter will then meet with you in person or virtually to review your job history, skill strengths, education and career goals to determine what type of clients and/or positions you’d be right for.

How long does the interview take?

Each interview is unique to the individual but can typically last 10-20 minutes. To facilitate the process of getting started, we ask that you please fill out the entire application online before coming in for your interview.

What happens after our interview?

After the entire interview process is complete, we actively search for positions that best suit your needs and skills. In addition, we recommend that you call your local branch weekly when you’re available for assignments.

How should I dress?

Your appearance will be critically important in your job search. First impressions are important when interviewing in our office, virtually or at the client site. Dress requirements for each assignment will be addressed with you prior to your start date and will typically mirror the company’s dress code policy. To this effect, your Recruiter will define what appropriate means in advance of any job.

Am I allowed to work with other employment agencies as well?

You do not need to work exclusively with Newegg Staffing while you are signed on with us. However, we do ask that you keep us posted whenever you’re available so that we can keep you working continuously.

How soon after joining Newegg Staffing can I expect to be working?
